The Reason I Started Galleon Treasures
Sunday, December 25, 2016
My Name is Commodore Daniel Red and I started Galleon Treasures Parrot Sanctuary. It's purpose is to give birds a place to go when their owners can no longer take care of them. As parrots go they usually do not take to others easily, so most if not all of the Parrots taken in will probably remain here with the Sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
Giving these parrots (currently 40+) a forever home where they can have large Aviaries (flight pens) was a must. They are also partnered with other parrots that get along together to be their companions giving them an interactive and happy life where they can grow out their flight feathers and have some fun. This also allows them to be appreciated by the friends of the Sanctuary and be as close to free birds as is possible for them.
We do allow visitors to the Sanctuary. Handling the birds is strictly controlled. As we mentioned above it is unusual for a parrot to take to another person especially if the individual who raised it had it for many years. It can take a long, long time for a parrot to establish trust with a new person. As each case is unique it will always be up to me, Commodore Red, as to whether a parrot under my supervision will be allowed to be held.
If you have any questions about anything we do here I will be happy to answer them. Please do not hesitate to ask anything, as the only bad question is the one not asked.
SincerelySincerely
Commodore Red
